Welcome back! This is the first newsletter of the Spring Term. The snow brought an unexpected start to the year but the children have now settled in well and are working hard. Thank you so much to the parents who helped to clear the playground of snow, this was greatly appreciated.
As you know, we were inspected by OFSTED in the second week of term and you will receive a copy of the report as soon as it is published.
Mrs D H Ball, Headteacher
PARENTS EVENING
Parents Evenings will take place this half term on Wednesday 3rd February from 6pm until 8pm and Thursday 4th February from 3.30pm until 5.30pm. You will recieve a letter in due course. Also at Parents Evening we will be asking parents about the format for children's 'Records of Achievement' as we may be updating this for the Summer Term and we would welcome your comments and ideas.
At Parents Evening you will have the opportunity to talk about your child's learning and progress and also to look at their work.
SITE SECURITY
To ensure that the site is secure and to comply with current safeguarding regulations, the school gates will be opened at 8.40am and 2.50pm - 10 minutes before session times begin and end. Parents wishing to speak to a member of staff during school session times, 8.55am until 3.00pm, should report to the Main Reception.
INFORMATION POINTS
We are planning to have two Notice Boards for parents, one on the Infant yard and one on the Junior yard where we can place useful information including community events.
In the meantime, please find our 'Information Points' in the window of Class 5 on the Junior yard and the window of Class 2 on the Infant yard.
MRS BECKINGHAM
At half term, Mrs Beckingham will be leaving us to begin her new role running a business in Rotherham! Mrs Beckingham's shop will sell books and old fashioned sweets and be called 'Mrs B's Bookzzz and Bonbonzzz' - this is on Wellgate. The shop will open on 1st March and if you bring this newsletter you will receive a 10% discount - you can even use this as many times as you like!
Mrs Beckingham will continue her role as School Governor and support us in our fundraising efforts.
She will be missed greatly and on behalf of the Governors and all the Staff we thank her for all her hard work and wish her well in her new venture.
POSITIVE PARENTING COURSE
Just a reminder that our new PSA (Parent Suppot Advisor) Mrs Liz O'Brien is running a Positive Parenting Course at Aughton Early Years Centre for Treeton parents. They are on Wednesdays from 1pm until 3pm and run for ten weeks. They aim to give you lots of ideas to help you handle your child's behaviour in a positive way. They start on 20th January and places are still available. Full details are on the poster at the Information Points in school. Please telephone Liz O'Brien on 0774 8143362 or Aughton Early Years on 0114 2872530 or email Liz at
